Pacific American Foundation "Hanai i ka Ipu"

Hanai I Ka Ipu is a Federally Funded (Free) program for students grades 7-12 and they are accepting applications now! They meet two Saturday's a month and do fun learning activities about Hawaiian Culture and go on exciting excursions to various areas, even to the outer islands. The focus of the program is on COMMUNITY SERVICE AND LEADERSHIP. This program is for all Pacific Island Youth. They also offer career placement activities as well. Isle schools will offer new 'super diploma'

Seeking to motivate high school kids, the Board of Education will soon offer students the option of a "College and Career Ready Diploma" in addition to the regular diploma.

The new voluntary diploma requires students to take higher levels of math and English. Students who opt to stay with the current requirements will get a regular diploma. The College and Career Ready Diploma begins with the Class of 2013, according to new rules adopted by the Board of Education last week.
