Kahuku girls top OIA East champ Moanalua

Kahuku accomplished what no other girls soccer team has this season — beat Moanalua — and it did it twice.

The Red Raiders upset East champion Na Menehune, 1-0, last night to advance to the semifinals of the O'ahu Interscholastic Association Red Division Tournament at Moanalua.

Kahuku sprints past 'Aiea girls

Kahuku sophomore Zhane Santiago proved last year that she was one of the best runners in the state.

Last night, on the soccer field, she showed it.

Santiago, the state's 100- and 300-meter hurdles champion in 2008, scored twice to lead the Red Raiders to a 3-2 win over 'Aiea in the first round of the O'ahu Interscholastic Association Red Conference tournament at Kaiser High School.

No. 3 Kahuku turns back No. 10 Moanalua in OIA Red East, 64-57

Kahuku held off a fourth-quarter Moanalua rally that cut a 14-point lead to two and emerged with a 64-57 victory last night in O'ahu Interscholastic Association boys basketball action.

The Red Raiders, ranked No. 3 in The Advertiser's statewide Top 10 poll of coaches and media, improved to 5-0 in the OIA Red Conference Eastern Division.

Kahuku boys pull away from Kalaheo

KAHUKU — Even without its marquee player, Kahuku had too much for Kalaheo last night and pulled away for a 52-36 victory in O'ahu Interscholastic Association boys basketball action.

The Red Raiders improved to 3-0 in the Red Conference Eastern Division, while the defending East champion Mustangs dropped to 2-1.

Kahuku defeats Kaimuki in OIA Red East opener

Boosted by a 26-point third period that turned a 32-27 deficit into a 53-43 lead, visiting Kahuku raced past Kaimuki last night, 64-50, in the O'ahu Interscholastic Association Red Conference Eastern Division boys basketball opener for both teams.
