Kahuku Library to Host September Programs and a Book Sale

Kahuku Public & School Library is scheduled to host a book sale and four Tuesday evening programs in September. All programs will be held from 6:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. in the Conference Room; admission is free.

Gold not changing Kai

U.S. Women's soccer player Natasha Kai figures she's still the same person that she was just a few weeks ago.

Except with a gold medal.

"It hasn't sunk in yet, that I won a gold medal," the Kahuku native said. "When I look at it, I'm like, 'Oh my gosh, I won a gold medal.' Sometimes I'm sitting back, and I'm like, 'I did it.'

DUKE - GEORGETOWN - HARVARD - PENN - STANFORD

Representatives from five colleges (DUKE - GEORGETOWN - HARVARD - PENN - STANFORD) will host an information night for students and parents on Thursday, September 18 at 7:30 pm. Kahuku cuffs Kailua in Red East opener

KAHUKU — A week after being shut out by Kamehameha, Kahuku returned to form with a 28-14 win over Kailua last night in the O'ahu Interscholastic Association Red East football opener for both teams.

A crowd of about 450 at Carleton Weimer Field saw the Red Raiders improve to 1-1, 1-0 in the Red East. Kailua, in its season opener, fell to 0-1.

School tests cooling designs

Kahuku students may escape 'purgatory' of portable classrooms

Kahuku High & Intermediate School will soon test four schemes to cool temperatures in portable classrooms, some so hot they're known on campus as "purgatory."

The most successful cooling option will be applied to buildings throughout the state's public school campuses.

The heat abatement pilot project will test passive cooling designs as opposed to installing air conditioning, a high energy user in a time of soaring electric bills.
