Kahuku hitter Te'o tops in Red East

Kahuku senior Nile Te'o gave the Red Raiders steady if not spectacular all-around play in each of their 12 regular-season matches.

The net result was a 12-0 record for Kahuku in the O'ahu Interscholastic Association's Red Conference Eastern Division and division Player of the Year honors for Te'o, a 5-foot-6 outside hitter, after a recent vote of league coaches.

Warrior now, Red Raider for life

Even at 5 feet 9 and 170 pounds, Richard Torres amazes his Hawai'i football teammates with his courage, grit and skill.

But cut him, and his blood is red — the color of his high school alma mater.

"I'm proud to be from Kahuku," said Torres, whose father is the Red Raiders' head football coach.

Defending champ Mules rally past Kahuku in OT

Leilehua receiver Cheves Aberilla Ramento caught an 18-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Andrew Manley in overtime and the Mules held off Kahuku on the ensuing possession last night for a thrilling 17-10 victory in the First Hawaiian Bank Division I Football State Championships.

Kahuku athlete will sign on

An athletic defensive player from Kahuku High School yesterday accepted a scholarship from the University of Hawai'i football team.

Kamalani Alo, who is 6 feet 1 1/2 and 190 pounds, is projected to compete at safety for the Warriors. He is an outside linebacker for Kahuku.

Wahiawa Veteran's Day Parade

The KHS JROTC Cadets and KHS Cheerleaders marched in the Annual Wahiawa Lion's Club Veteran's Day Parade. A Special Thanks to all the Parents and Teachers who can out and supported us. They showed School Pride and sacrificed their holiday to Honor the Veterans. Also, Mr. Joe Whitford and the Cheerleader Coaches we thank you for your support.

In addition to marching in the Wahiawa parade, 8 JROTC cadets went to Punchbowl National Cemetery to escort VIP's. The cadets had the opportunity to meet many great veterans. Photo's were taken with Senator Akaka, Representative Abercrombie, Medal of honor winners and many more. A job well done!

TeenBiz Update

Congratulations to Ms. Tupola's Period 1 students! The class average is 35 articles since the year began! In second place is Ms. DeRego's Period 6 averaging 26 articles. Freshman students have to complete Teenbiz on their own time for homework. Way to go freshman! Teenbiz is now running a contest to give a party pack to one of the classes that has at least 75% of the students read at least 4 articles during November. That's only one article one a week! At the moment only Mr. Mimaki's Period 2 has qualified after getting a late start doing Teenbiz. Mr. Mimaki's 7th Reading students rock!
