New School Calendar For School Year 2009-2010

Dear Parents,
The Department of Education is currently considering a new school calendar for School Year 2009-2010 and is interested in receiving feedback from parents through the School Community Councils. If you would like to provide feedback, please complete the survey below and return it to Sandee Bates at sbates58@hotmail.com with "Parent Survey" in the subject line. The feedback will be collated and shared with our school's SCC so that this group can make a recommendation on behalf of our school. (By the way, our school is going to participate in a heat abatement project that will provide some relief to the hottest portables on campus.) Thank you, responses would be appreciated by Monday, March 10th.
Lisa DeLong
Principal

Please respond to each survey statement using the following scale.
1= I really disagree with this statement and it should NOT be a consideration.
2= I do not think this is accurate.
3= No feelings or thoughts one way or another.
4= I think this is probably true.
5= I really think this is true and should be considered.
Simply reply with the survey statement number followed by the scale number.
Example: Statement 1 : 3
(Meaning no feelings or thought one way or another.)

Survey statements for consideration:
1. We believe it is important to end the 1st semester prior to the beginning of the Winter Break.
2. We believe a two (2) week winter break is sufficient.
3. We believe a longer summer break will better allow students, teachers, and the school community to rejuvenate for the next school year and pursue additional training and coursework.
4. We believe the current school calendar (1-3-2) provides enough time for students and teachers to attend summer coursework.
5. We do not believe any change in the school calendar will remove the need for air conditioning in some classrooms.
6. The 1-3-2 calendar is best. (1 week fall break, 3 week winter break, 2 week spring break)
7. The 1-2-2- calendar is best. (1 week fall break, 2 week winter break, 2 week spring break)
Please provide any clarifying comments if any at this time.
