Kahuku High senior wins congressional district art contest

Ghialana Borges, a Kahuku High School senior, has won the grand prize at the 2009 Congressional Art Contest "Kaha Kii: An Artistic Discovery."

The announcement was made Monday by U.S. Rep. Mazie Hirono.

Borges' winning work, a photograph titled "Reflections," will represent Hawaii's 2nd Congressional District on display in Washington, D.C.

A total of 148 students from Kauai, Maui, Molokai, Oahu and the Big Island entered the contest.
